I'm in love

I'm in love. with my cat. Her name is Dixie and she is a poop sometimes, but I love her. We've had her for almost a year now and it seems like I can't love her any more, and then I do. She is such a great companion. During the day, whether I am working or perusing the internet, cooking, or watching tv, she is right by my side...sleeping most of the time and looking oh so cute. I love that when I come home, she's there to greet me, pur, and rub against my leg. I love that within 5 seconds of starting the shower, she's in-between the liner and the curtain batting at the water droplets streaming down. I love that she follows me from room to room, but when I turn around, she pretends to be sniffing something because she doesn't want me to know she's a follower. She loves to be loved and loves me right back.

I have never been one of those "animal people". I've always liked animals, but never considered that one day, I'd be writing a blog entry about my cat. When I was contemplating what to write about this week, I asked myself, "what have I been most passionate about this week?" Dixie was my resounding answer. And as boring as it may seem, this blog is just about how much I love her.

My love seems to be growing exponentially for her in the past couple of months. I'm thinking this is because one of two reasons. Either 1) I'm already feeling guilty about the decrease in attention she's going to get in 6 months or (more likely) 2) God's showing me that my capacity for love is growing every day as we prepare to welcome our little one. and that makes me excited.

  1. I just had a memory of our cat named Romeo (he was a cuddle bug.) He was the cutest thing! Keith and I got him before I was pregnant with Alex. It will be so exciting to see how he reacts and adjusts to a new baby! I remember when I came home from the hospital, carrying Alex into the house in her car seat. She was so quiet. Romeo was sniffing around and then Alex cried! The cat jumped five feet off the floor! I wish I would of gotten that on video! I'll never forget that!
