Dreams in the oven

Lots of dreaming going on around these parts...

My sister, Lesli, posted on her facebook page that she would love to one day have a tea room. After I envisioned it in my head and saw people lining out the door (because her tea room would be THAT amazing), my mind soon wandered to scones, puffed pastries, and apple pie... that I would make to sell at her tea room. And I felt all tingly and giggly inside; truly happy. I figure that the only way for me to decide if this dream of having a baking business will ever become a reality is to start baking things I would not normally bake; attempting things that are risky and invite potential failure (which I hate). It's time to move beyond chocolate chip cookies, baby...

Homemade apple pie, crust and all. I was inspired by an apple pie I tasted in Watercolor that made me proud it's considered "American cuisine". And I knew that it was high-time I tried my hand at it. After all, what baker doesn't bake apple pie?

Freshly made dough, golden delicious apples, sugar, and a touch of cinnamon and a few other things along the way. It went surprisingly better than I imagined and I think next time will be even better. Making the crust was the touchiest part, but even that came out alright.

The end result was an apple pie that I was actually proud of! Crispy on the outside, warm, sweet apples on the inside. Homemade with lots of excitement and anticipation.
