a nice new accessory

I took Beckham to the market today. This picture was taken last week, when John came with us. But it shows our typical get-up when we go. He's wearing his cool hand-me-down hat from his cousin Walker. He's facing outward in the Moby, so as to not fall asleep before his morning nap. And if i don't have bags of produce in my hands, I am generally squeezing his fat legs or sweet hands--trying to refrain from squeezing them too hard in sheer delight at their mooziness.

Today at the market, it was amazing to me how many people wanted to talk to me, i.e. see the baby. He is a people magnet, or as my neighbor called it..."a nice new accessory" :). And although I'd like to think that he's that charming, I know that it's mostly because he is a baby! Now that Beckham is here, I am realizing just how much people love babies. They can make even the coldest person crack a smile. They are sweet, innocent, and beautiful....and most of all, pure. There aren't many things in our world that are still pure. Our food has additives, our air is polluted, and our water needs filters. At least we still have babies....
