For pumpkin spice lattes.
For sweaters.
For boots.
For fires in fireplaces.
And for facebook photos of very cute children in very cute outfits at pumpkin patches.
Thus, on one of John's precious days off, we headed to a local pumpkin patch. It didn't matter that Beckham had a horrible nap prior. or that John was exhausted from working an 80+hour work week. We were going. We were going to have a family day!
I could tell you that the rest of the day was wonderful. That Beckham is so adorable and we made great pumpkin patch family memories! Yes, in fact, here are the pictures to prove it.
Beckham loved the corn box so much that he decided to lay down in it :).
Looks dreamy, doesn't it?
Want to know how the day really went? Well, let's just say that it included a very tired and cranky toddler, two very grumpy and exhausted parents, and spilled chocolate ice cream. So, with that in mind, I thought I'd include some pictures that tell a more accurate story of the day.
As we drove home, the disappointment of the day really started to sink in. I had such grand expectations for our trip. Mostly none of them came true. We were all tired and John and I were disconnected from each other. And then there was the chocolate ice cream on Beckham's white collared shirt. Looking back, it was the perfect illustration for the day. It was clean, crisp, and primed for the "perfect photo shoot". until life happened. not my magazine version of life. real life. The life where you get chocolate stains on your shirt. where you only have one day off and you're all tired because it's your only day off. where you have a fussy toddler and there is nothing to be done about it. where you have disappointments.
Today, chocolate stains remind me that I can't script our story. and that's ok.
Briana,
ReplyDeleteI so know how you feel!! I feel like things can either be nothing like you had hoped or imagined them to be, or they turn out better than you could possibly have imagined! I love the pictures. I love you! Thank you for sharing! It would have been SO easy to crop those photos out! Thanks!!
oh my gosh, so cute!! I loved the corn box photo and everything else. Bri, your photos are getting better! I love that you posted them and also the "real" ones. I want to do that all the time but never do. Thanks for being real!
