Eventful weekend in Saginaw! John's birthday is on Tuesday, so we celebrated Friday night with some good ole fashioned roller skating. I hadn't checked out the local skating rink before we showed up on Friday night, so I was just as surprised as everyone else when we had to pass through a metal detector to get in, and there were two posted policeman watching the rink action. yikes! For those who are reading from back home, this rink was a far cry from Brentwood Skate Center. I guess I thought all roller rinks looked like Brentwood Skate Center. no. This rink was a lot more neon and a lot more rough around the edges. Nevertheless, we pressed on, got our skates, and started lacing up. Afterwards, we headed back to the apartment for some ice cream cake and hockey. We had a great time!

Today (Sunday) we all got together to watch the Men's Hockey Gold Medal game--USA v. Canada! It was a really anticipated game for us, as half of our friends are Canadian and the other half American! John and I went to wal-mart and got some USA gear and headed over in full American Spirit. Although USA didn't pull it off in overtime, they played a great game. It was a nail-biter!!
